Eva Marie Olinski, a middle school teacher, has finally chosen her team for the Academic Bowl. But unlike previous years, she doesn't know how she chose them. As the book continues, the intertwined narratives of the lives of four children unfold. The View from Saturday is a quiet, thoughtful book with the most charming of writing styles. I highly recommend.Almost 5 years agonasuada has read this book.

Ally Nickerson is dyslexic, but doesn't know it. She's tricked her teachers for years, and believes that her learning disability is entirely her fault. Ally finds herself in difficult situations at both home and school, with no visible escape. Art is her only distraction. The book offers a window into the workings of a fellow human's mind, which I find fascinating.Almost 5 years agonasuada added a book review.

It is difficult to carry on normally with one's life, as if one has not just been broken by John Green of all people, after reading this book. Hazel is frail and sick, with crappy, cancerous lungs and no dreams of romance. And then . . . it happens. She and Augustus, a bone cancer survivor, have a wonderful romance, with the only complications being cancer. However, the romance itself, around which the book revolves, is mediocre compared to the books other factors. Their unique coping mechanisms and philosophies, combined with intense, raw emotions, sealed the deal on this one. I recommend to 13+.Over 5 years ago
