Miranda lives with her mom in an apartment. One day on the way back from school Sal gets punched in the face.After this Sal stops talking to Miranda and he ignores her. Miranda eventually becomes friends with Annaliese and Coliin together they start working at a sandwich shop. through out all of this Miranda's mom is getting ready for 20,000 dollar pyramid.then Miranda starts getting notes, their house key is stolen and so is Richard her mom's boyfriends shoe. Then one day Marcus the boy who punched Sal in the face tries to apologize and sal starts running away into the street where a truck is coming right at him. When You Reach Me is about Time Travel and a bit of adventure.
This was such an interesting book to read. This book kind of tells you who sent the notes if you read and try to figure it out before she figures it out.
This book is amazing. It made me cry but the author kept you sitting on the edge of your seat trying to figure out the mystery behind the book. this book is better for older kids.
I loved Miranda's adventures and especially when she worked at the sandwich shop. Instead of getting paid with money, she was rewarded with a cheese sandwich. Her mother also went on the 20,000 dollar pyramid.

This was a very sad and heartwarming book about a girl who receives strange notes and has to save someone from death. That is, if she can do it in time.
Miranda lives with her mom and her mom's boyfriend Richard in a shabby little apartment. Life is normal... for the time being. One day on their walk home from school, Miranda's best friend Sal gets punched by a kid in their grade, Marcus. And then everything begins happening to Miranda all at once, in a whirlwind. Sal suddenly doesn't want to hang out with her anymore. Miranda's mom gets chosen to be a contestant in a game show where she could win $20,000! And Miranda also starts to receive mysterious notes. The notes say that it's up to her to help save her friends life and the note writer's own. Perplexed, Miranda tries to forget about the notes, and makes some new friends, Annemarie and Colin. Soon her life takes another turn-- she is accused of stealing, and more notes pop up, each one weirder than the others. This note writer seems to know exactly what's about to happen in her life! And that brings in the subject of time travel. **Now, at this part of the book, the author Rebecca Stead explains time travel. It's a little confusing, but hopefully you'll get the gist.** Miranda figures out secrets of the past, present, and future, and everything falls into place. Maybe her predicaments didn't turn about as bad as she thought! I really enjoyed this book, it was thorough in explanation, and it talked about the book A Wrinkle in Time as a main theme. Now this book has inspired me to read it! I really liked this amazing novel!
This book is very interesting and is mysterious. A girl by the name of Miranda gets weird notes from someone she doesn't even know. Her mother participates in a TV show and then her best friend stops talking to her. This old man dies and a boy yells "No." and it seems that he has time traveled. Read this awesome book to find out more.
If you l iike mystery and adventure then this book does not disappoint! i loved reading the adventures of Miranda and her best friend through New York City. She is a very smart girl who knows her way around but she is faced with several surprises. She must win her best friend back and solve a mystery of a missing key too! There a mysterious notes that lead her on a trail but the end is a big surprise! I really enjoyed following Miranda on her journey! I highly recommend this book!
