Holy unanticipated occurrences! A cynic meets an unlikely superhero in a genre-breaking new novel by master storyteller Kate DiCamillo.

It begins, as the best superhero stories do, with a tragic accident that has unexpected consequences. The squirrel never saw the vacuum cleaner coming, but self-described cynic Flora Belle Buckman, who has read every issue of the comic book Terrible Things Can Happen to You!, is just the right person to step in and save him. What neither can predict is that Ulysses (the squirrel) has been born anew, with powers of strength, flight, and misspelled poetry — and that Flora will be changed too, as she discovers the possibility of hope and the promise of a capacious heart. From #1 New York Times best-selling author Kate DiCamillo comes a laugh-out-loud story filled with eccentric, endearing characters and featuring an exciting new format — a novel interspersed with comic-style graphic sequences and full-page illustrations, all rendered in black-and-white by up-and-coming artist K. G. Campbell.

Flora and Ulysses is a great book. It is an action-comedy type thing. It is about a natural born cynic and an unsuspecting hero to save the world... or something. It is a great book for comic lovers, and a good read.

The main character is Flora a natural born sinic. This books plot was a bit confusing but there is a lot of comedy from the speech's. The book has lots of good words that you could use in writing like capacious. Characters have there own personalities which makes the story very diverse. I would recommend this book to people who love comedy, comics and adventure.

I love the comedy. And the flora.

This book is funny and sad and happy all in one. I would recommend this book to grade 3,4,5 and even grade 6. Ulysses is a squirrel that can fly, type and lift a vacuum. Some of the chapters are comics and some chapters are normal.

This book is about a squirrel named ulysses who gets sucked up by a vacume cleaner and got super powers. And when Floras mother kidnaped ulysses flora and ulysses knew the had to find each other.

Flora and Ulysses is a great book for those who just dont like reading. The book is very funny and i like how some of the chapters are normal paragraphs and how others are comics. flora is a natural born sinic who somehow found a FLYING SQUIRREL: Ulysses.

This is a really interesting book. It is funny, and Ulysses is a pretty cool squirrel. I especially liked how the book had some chapters that were comics and some that were regular writing. You should read Flora and Ulysses because... It is exciting,It is full of adventure. It is about a girl named Flora. Her mom calls her a cynic. Flora has a neighbor named Tootie. Tootie almost sucks a squirrel into her vacuum but just in time Flora saves the squirrel. What is a cynic? Who is Flora? Who is Ulysses? Why is Flora important in the story? Is Flora important in the story? Is Tootie important in the story? How old is Flora? How old is Tootie? All of these are questions you could be asking. I guess you have to read the book to find out!
