Beauty, especially when it relates to graffiti art, lies in the eyes of the beholder - Some love it and see it as an expression of creativity, while others, especially those that have to clean up the mess off their garage doors or walls, think it is an eyesore. However, even the biggest critics of this art form cannot find fault with this graffiti board that uses just LED lights and water!

The brilliant invention is the brainchild of French artist and designer Antonin Fourneau who collaborated with a team of talented designers at the Digitalarti Artlab, to create a giant wall comprising of thousands of LED lights programmed to turn on whenever they came in contact with water - Be it a spray from a distance or simply, a moist thumb.

It took the team several weeks and many prototypes and design changes to erect one that worked flawlessly. But by mid-July, they were ready to have some fun with their unique wall and from July 22nd to July 24th, 2012, the lucky residents of Poitiers, France, were given the opportunity to go wild with their imagination.

The project was a huge hit. Both young and old, amateurs and experts, came to show off their artistic skills on what Fourneau describes as “a wall for ephemeral (short-term) messages in the urban space without deterioration. A wall to communicate and share magically in the city.”

The only regret most had was that it was a temporary exhibit that was removed after two days. Hopefully, Fourneau will take his Water Light Graffiti Project on a world tour so, that we can all create magnificent graffiti art as well!
